Marriott signs deal for luxury camps in Masai Mara, Mt Kenya

Marriott International, a global leader in hospitality, is broadening its luxury offerings in Kenya through a new partnership with the Lazizi Group, the owner of two premier safari properties. Under the agreement, Marriott will oversee operations at the Ritz-Carlton Masai Mara Safari Camp, set to open in August. This camp promises an exclusive safari experience within one of Africa’s most celebrated wildlife reserves.

In addition, the hospitality giant will manage the JW Marriott Mount Kenya Rhino Reserve Safari Camp, which is slated to welcome guests in early 2026 at Solio Game Reserve. Nestled between the majestic slopes of Mount Kenya and the peaks of the Aberdare Mountains, this retreat will cover thousands of acres and feature 20 upscale tented units. Among these, two expansive two-bedroom suites will offer private plunge pools for an extra touch of luxury.

Jerome Briet, a senior manager at Marriott, highlighted that both camps will blend sophisticated design with intimate wildlife encounters and impeccable service to create lasting memories. The Masai Mara property, for instance, will offer 20 tented suites—including a lavish four-bedroom presidential suite complete with separate living areas, a private sunken lounge, an infinity plunge pool, and both indoor and outdoor showers. Located deep within the Masai Mara National Reserve, the camp benefits from a setting famed for its abundant wildlife and the annual migration of wildebeest, zebras, and gazelles from the Serengeti.

Shivan Patel, a director at Lazizi Group, emphasized that Kenya’s reputation for delivering unparalleled safari adventures will be further enhanced by these projects. He noted, “These initiatives are set to redefine the luxury safari experience in Kenya while advancing conservation and community development. Our ongoing collaboration with Marriott International is a testament to our shared commitment to celebrating the region’s natural and cultural heritage.”

Overall, these ventures are expected to appeal to discerning travelers seeking a premium, once-in-a-lifetime safari experience in Kenya.
